Start with a piece of cardstock and make your own patterns on it by either painting a pattern, stamping, doodling, or whatever else your heart desires!!! Then use it on a layout as your background paper.

Technique Challenge - Mosaic: posted by Carla Robinson
This month our technique is MOSAIC. This may look like it is difficult to do, but once you try it, it’s not that bad. You can do mosaics in a number of ways. You can cut your photo into small, same-sized squares; you can cut the photo into various sizes of squares; or you can cut patterned paper/cardstock into squares. All produce a neat looking effect on a layout, and if you use paper, it helps get rid of all those small scraps you have saved!
